MOORE, Richard S. Jr., 66, of Midlothian, Va., died July 30, 2015. Rick was born in Bethesda, Md., and was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1970.

He served for 23 years as a surface warfare officer, including command of the USS Taurus and USS Bagley. He retired in January, 1993.

Rick is survived by his partner of 21 years, Sharon Peyronel, who was with him at the time of his death; his parents, Richard and Betty Moore of Clifton, Va.; and his sons, Richard Moore III of Richmond, John P. Moore (Kasey) of Manassas and Daniel T. Moore; as well as former spouse, Mary Kay Moore, both of Virginia Beach. His granddaughter, Madeline was the joy of his life. Rick is also survived by nieces, Susan and Catherine; nephew, Joseph; and a host of grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa (Tassie) Heath.

Rick moved to the Richmond area in 2001 and worked at the Bank of America and Merrill Lynch for several years. Moving to Midlothian in 2008, he retired again to enjoy his woodworking hobby and to "make stuff."

The family will receive friends during a Memorial visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd.
